Oxytocin, Dopamine, Serotonin the Three Musketeers.
As the Chinese proverb says, “Smiling three times a day makes any medication unnecessary”. It has been proven that smiling is a stimulant that allows the brain to secrete oxytocin, the hormone of love, happiness, and attachment. This neuropeptide in addition to its physiological role has a real impact on the mood of a person. In addition to oxytocin, smiling promotes the secretion of dopamine, a hormone that fights against negative emotions, and serotonin, another hormone which has a link with positivity.
Smiling can be exhausting in the long run….
Fifteen is the number of muscles your face needs to use in order to draw a smile. In the opposite you need 40 muscles when you pull a face. Being in a bad mood is actually much more tiring than smiling. Moreover, smiling helps to fight wrinkles. You'll probably spend less money on anti-wrinkle cream if you smile a little more often.
But I don't feel like smiling….
Sometimes when we are going through a difficult period it is very difficult to find a reason to smile. Faking a smile won't help me. If that's what you think, then you're wrong. The human brain can't distinguish between a real and a fake smile and both have the same impact on you. Smiling not only makes you more attractive to others, but it also sends a positive vibe to those around you. It is important that you learn to smile more often, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
